CHECK MATE! Mr. Cropper and the HSE teams swept the competition and won 1st place in both the Beginner and Experienced divisions at the HSE Invitational Chess Tournament!
Over 70 students participated and HSE students also ran away with individual championships. In the Experienced division, Unsh R, 8th grade, and Nathan C, 3rd grade, tied for first place. In the Beginner category, Dmitri L, 3rd grade, won 1st overall and Sasha L., 2nd grade, won 2nd.
What an amazing accomplishment for our first tournament! CONGRATULATIONS!

Digital Ecosystem Team
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening.
Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in the Fall 2018 are not eligible to test in Spring 2019. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site.
The referral forms must be returned to the front office by Friday, February 8, 2019.
The 2019 Spring GT testing window is February 11, 2019 – March 29, 2019.
For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school’s GT Coach/teacher.
Club registration window is now open for everybody. If you are interested to register your child in after-school clubs, you may visit the front office or email after-school club coordinator at email@example.com
Registration window will be closed on Friday, February 1st at 5:00 pm. All Payments must be made at the front office with checks, credit/debit card or money order. Payment plan option is also available.
Before 7:00 A.M. Students should not be dropped off before 7:00 a.m.
**There are no staff members watching the students before this time and HSE is not responsible for their safety.
7:00 – 7:20 A.M. Staff will monitor students outside during this time.
7:00 – 7:45 A.M. Student drop off time.
7:20 A.M. North door will be opened at this time and students will be allowed into the building.
7:50 A.M. Students are now tardy and the North door where Mr. Pine stands will be locked.
7:50 – 8:00 A.M. Students must be dropped off at the front door only and will be counted as tardy.
8:00 A.M. and after: a parent or adult will be required to walk the student into school and sign in the student.

Happy Holidays! As we come to the end of another highly successful year and semester, I wanted to personally to thank you for all your support. When I first arrived on campus seven months ago, I was thinking how much I love being at HSE. Now, I can confirm that I have one of the best jobs in the world.
Walt Disney once said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” This is certainly the case as a principal. The reality is that the learning experiences and projects that have taken place this semester could not have happened without a great deal of commitment and support from the staff, parents, and students.
I can’t thank everyone enough for your endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organizing, donating, and doing everything you could to support our students—both at home and at school. Special thanks goes to our PTO who, as always, went above and beyond the call of duty to provide whatever was necessary to add to our students’ already rich school experience. We can`t be the #1 without you guys.
In some very exciting news, we are working behind the scenes on a very big project, “The HSE S.T.E.A.M. Lab” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). This new addition will contain a makerspace-like classroom to support collaborative ingenuity for all of our students. STEAMLab is only the temporary name. In the spirit of creativity, we will give students and staff the opportunity to submit and vote on the permanent name. More details coming soon!

Harmony Public Schools joins the country in mourning the loss of President George H.W. Bush, a leader known as the “education president” for his tireless devotion to America’s schoolchildren.
A statewide Day of Mourning has been declared by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, to allow Texans to pay their respects to President Bush. All Harmony Public School campuses will remain open and operating on their regular schedule on this date.

It is the policy of the Harmony Public Schools to ensure that
