The HSE PTO has some big news: this year, our I-Fest Silent Auction is going digital! You can now support our teachers and school by bidding on silent auction items from the comfort of your own home.
Homeroom parents are still busy working over the holiday and more silent auction items will continue to be added next week as items are brought in. We have an Astros basket, A&M, baking basket, relaxation basket, Staycation and more still coming in so be sure to keep checking back.
The online bidding will remain open and all baskets will also be on display during the festival. The PTO will provide devices to assist bidding and visitors can also bid from their phone while at the event. People using mobile devices can even set a ‘watch’ to get updates on items they are interested in. Winners will be able to pay for and take home items won at I-Fest. Bidders who cannot make the event will be sent invoices by email and arrangements will be made for pick up or shipping.
Please share the link with family, friends, and neighbors as there are some great items up for auction! Many of these would make great holiday gifts and be activities to keep the kids busy over the holiday break. The link to the auction is: www.32auctions.com/2018ifest
Bidding begins Wednesday, November 21st at 2:15 p.m. and closes on Saturday, December 1st at 1:30 p.m. Looking forward to seeing you at this year’s International Festival and happy bidding!
The AMAZING annual HSE International Festival will be held on Saturday, December 1st from 11:00 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is an inspirational event that showcases the tapestry of cultures that make up our HSE family. There will be country booths where you can eat your way around the world, cultural performances from students and staff, carnival games, vendor booths, and a silent auction of baskets prepared by each homeroom. Here are some of the ways you can
Silent Auction Baskets
Silent Auction baskets are prepared by each homeroom as a fundraiser for the teacher. Homeroom parents have emailed details for items they would like added to their basket. Donations are the best way to raise money so be sure to ask around to add more value.
Each year we ask families to sponsor a country booth to highlight the myriad of cultures that make up HSE. Country Booths will be set up in the cafeteria, and those attending the festival will walk “around the world” as they visit each booth, sample food/drinks, and learn about each country. If you would like to sponsor a booth, please fill out the attached Booth Application.
Students and staff are also encouraged to present cultural performances. I-Fest goers love settling in for the performance portion of the afternoon. If your student or a group you know would like to perform at I-Fest this year, please submit a Performance Application. Performances can be solo or group performances. Additional information is on the attached form.
If you are interested in or know of a friend or family member who might like having a vendor spot at the school to display and sell their various products or items, please share the form with them as well. The vendor spots are limited to one from each company so have them get the forms in as soon as possible.
Go to I-Fest
The last and easiest way to help with I-Fest is to attend the festival. Come out and visit the vendor booths, and most importantly, bid on our Silent Auction baskets! Tickets are available now for presale until November 14th, using the attached form, and will also be available at the door on December 1st. Country booths will only accept tickets to purchase food items. Make sure you get enough tickets for everyone to eat their way around the world. Also, All-You-Can-Play wristbands are available for the Carnival.
We are so excited about this year’s event and hope that everyone can make it to support our wonderful school!

HSE will be issuing numbered hanging car tags to replace the windshield stickers currently used at dismissal. The car tags are easier to transfer from car to car and the larger print makes the numbers easier to read. Tags will be neon yellow this year and will change color every year.
We will begin issuing car tags on September 5th
Receiving Car Tags:
- Car tags will be sent home with students who already have a number assigned to them from previous years
- Each student will get 2 copies of the new car tag; extras will be made by request
- For students who are NEW to HSE, parents will need to come to the front office and show ID to receive their number*
* Parent/Guardian must present ID and be listed in Skyward to verify they are legally able to pick up the child
- There will also be an opportunity to receive your car tags during Info Nights
Displaying Car Tags:
- Car tags must be displayed in the window, whether it’s hung from rear view mirror or on the dashboard, in order to have the student released to the parent
- Stickers need to be discarded if they do not match the number on the tag
- If the parent shares their car tag and number with anyone, they assume the responsibility for their child’s safety
- Official implementation starts on September 10th – if you do not have your car tag you will need to park and claim your tag.
It’s time to register your students for after school clubs! Clubs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and begin on September 4th. Payments are due September 7th.
Click here for a description of the clubs: https://hsehouston.harmonytx.org/clubs/ (note: SchoolBuddy is not online, families must register using the link below).
If you have any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
4th-8th graders: Join the HSE Cross Country team in their 2nd year of competition. Last year, two of our runners qualified for the TCSAAL state championships and three qualified for the USATF National Championships.
We are looking forward to an even faster year! Practices are held before school at the HSE field on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with optional weekend long runs.
